Bus Connectivity
Dorchester has paid £1.85m in bus contributions to date and is continuing to contribute towards the funding of the bus service. A working group has been set up, which is attended by Oxfordshire County Councillors, Oxford officers, Dorchester Living representatives and Heyford Park Parish Council along with the bus operators to improve the service. Following the departure of the Americans from the Airforce base, the local area experienced increased rural isolation and reduced connectivity. Dorchester has supported the local bus service to help maintain transport links for the community. As Heyford Park continues to grow in line with the masterplan, the viability and frequency of bus services will improve.
Highway improvements
To date Dorchester has spent £7.5 million on highway improvements.
In addition, Dorchester has contributed to local traffic calming in the surrounding area.

Rail
Approximately half of Heyford Park residents commute to Oxford. Heyford Station already provides a direct service to Oxford in around 13 minutes, and as the masterplan progresses, both the service and frequency are expected to improve. A key challenge to increasing frequency, however, is the closure of three level crossings along the route.
As part of the wider masterplan, we are also exploring the potential reopening of Ardley Station, which was identified as an opportunity in Oxfordshire County Council’s OxRail 2040 report. Previous studies have indicated that the delivery of more than 6,000 homes would likely be required to make the reopening of Ardley Station a viable proposition.
