A planning application has been submitted for a new school, which will be situated close to 20 hectares of parkland. The school will have a capacity of 315 pupils from Reception to Year 6, alongside a dedicated nursery provision with a capacity of 75 pupils.

Delivered on behalf of the county, the school will be built to the principles of BREEAM (Very Good) and achieve a net zero carbon standard by using solar panels and ground source heat pumps. It will also retain an existing aircraft shelter, refurbishing it as an open play space for the pupils.

The school will provide a high-quality learning environment for children in the local community, offering families the convenience of walking and cycling to school and reducing the reliance on car travel, encouraging active travel connections. Sports pitches will also be provided to consolidate a healthy lifestyle for the pupils.

The new school will not only serve as a linchpin in the community but will also create local employment opportunities for teachers and school staff. The strategic planning of the school will complement the existing nursery, primary and secondary schools that are already established at Heyford Park and contribute to a seamless journey through education for the families living nearby. 

The new building has been designed to provide children with an interactive learning environment by restoring one of the Victor Alert Shelters to build upon the legacy of the RAF and USAF and provide covered play space, incorporating a forest school and library garden.
